G6PD deficiency and methylene blue

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is an inherited condition in which red blood cells can break down too early (hemolysis), often triggered by certain medications, foods, or infections. Many people with it don't know they have it.

The FDA-approved ProvayBlue label lists patients with G6PD deficiency as a contraindication due to the risk of hemolytic anemia.

If you're unsure of your G6PD status, ask a clinician. MB Dose Log shows this caution during setup but cannot test for or evaluate it.
